The work that women do is essential to society, yet it is still often under-appreciated, underpaid and undervalued, and in many cases undocumented. ‘WOMEN AT WORK’ at URBAN GALLERY for the 2018 SCOTIABANK CONTACT PHOTOGRAPHY FESTIVAL celebrates women, and their contributions to the health, welfare and economy of their communities and the world at large.
DOROTHY CHIOTTI
Dorothy Chiotti is an avid photographer, prolific writer and passionate equestrian. Her work is inspired by love and the connection she feels to her subject matter, mostly farm life, nature and travel. Dorothy resides on a horse farm in Mono, Ontario, with her husband, horses, rough collies and cats.

Hi Calvin …
Hope you’re doing well and enjoying the beautiful summer.
Thought you might like to see what I’ve created since the Barn Mavens exhibit, for without your gallery’s kickstart this would not have been possible. Am working on a similar project on a broader scale called Unsung Heroines of the Horse Industry and this is my initial promo video.
Hope you like it.
Best wishes,
Dorothy :-)

ERIN MCGEAN
Erin McGean uses analogue collage and digital photography to compare how working women are depicted in contemporary fashion magazines with those in vintage National Geographic. The irony: fashion is one of the few industries where women make more money than men. Erin lives in Oakville, Ontario, raising her family, teaching visual arts and practicing her craft.
LYNDON WIEBE
Lyndon Wiebe is a Chef by trade and an avid photographer. He got his first camera when he was 10 years old and has been taking pictures ever since. His photographs in WOMEN AT WORK are inspired by the women in his life who have shown him that any job can be done with a touch of grace.
WALLY JAY PARKER
Wally Jay Parker aka Hollie Phipps is Ontario-born and raised in Toronto. Generalizing in N O U N S -people / places / things. New to the game with a fresh perspective. Her specialty is M U G S -portraiture. Her passion is capturing vulnerable humanity and telling its story. Good / Bad / Ugly and Beautiful.
